Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics…In Costa Rica

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

We’ve been following the Winter Olympics all the way over in Costa Rica.  I guess we should count ourselves lucky to even be able to watch them, but all we can get is NBC coverage on TV – and honestly NBC coverage sucks balls!

Besides from horrible and frequently incorrect on-screen displays, mis-timed events, terrible commentaries, their constant complaining about how the Olympics are being run, and of course their preferences to towards their own countrymen, there really isn’t anything I can think of that they have done well.  Oh and did I mention the seriously irritating tape-delay coverage?

In fact they are so bad that John and I have even contemplated just not watching the Olympics at all – but it sucks for us ’cause they got you by the balls with no other channels available to us.

So we’ve resorted to 3 drastic measures to make the Olympics more tolerable to watch:

1. We channel surf during commercials, commentaries and anything else they do besides from showing the Olympic sports themselves.  Basically anytime we have to hear anyone on NBC speak – we just change the channel.

2. We turn the volume off while watching the sports and make our own funny commentaries and hoot and hollar in our living room as loud as possible to make it as realistic for us as possible!

3. We get as much online information as we can online (See table below – I included it for our benefit more than yours ;-) )

Anyway – while we are not huge Olympic fans, we are proud Canadians and we still think NBC Olympic coverage sucks.  GO CANADA GO!!! :D
