So our epic saga continues.  Although we didn’t quite get to see the Volcan Poas, we did get to see all the vegetation and surroundings of this beautiful area.  A lot of the land and dirt in the area is this red color because of the volcano…

Downtown San Jose

SanJoseCentralDay 2 – Gallo Pinto We Love You!

After what felt like the most decent nights’ rest we’ve had in a long time, we decided to spend the day wandering around San Jose.

As we walked away from the hotel, the first 3-4 long blocks felt like any North American business district.  Car dealerships (ie. Toyota – “Voy Tranquillo!”), Pizza Hut, Quiznos, Subway are just a few of the familiar North American corporations surrounding the area.

It was all pretty quiet until all of a sudden there were huge crowds of people and lots of market vendors selling cheap sandals, shoelaces, socks, chicharrones and random fruits and veggies.  We assumed we had arrived in what is known as downtown San Jose. (more…)
