My birthday came and went. It’s always just a good excuse for everyone to have lots of drinks and lots of laughs. Here’s one of them. This is me and our good friend Rolando at the beginning of the night…
This is the stone statue who rests on the corner of our office entryway . He’s pretty cool. He looks pretty mellow and seems to be chiseled from good quality stone and he even has a penis…haha…bet I just woke you up if you were falling asleep while reading this post! And now I bet you’re looking for it too! Dirty people
Scrubbers the chubby little lizard lives on top of our laundry room roof and likes to play with us by scaring the crap out of us every time we have to go out there to do our laundry.
He scuffles about this way and that and likes to make a huge ruckus. He also likes to pretend he’s going to drop onto our heads at any second just before he drags his chubby little belly around and scuffles away.
(We’d kill the fat little bugger in a second if he wasn’t so good at eating all the ants and other pests…)
Sometimes ya just gotta laugh at yourself and not take things too seriously. John and I take this very much to heart and then some. I mean, you can’t lose your mind if it was never all quite there to begin with right?
I think I’ve mentioned before the abundance of wildlife, bugs, birds and farm animals there are all around Costa Rica. What I haven’t really talked about is my ineptitude at telling the difference between which animals are what.
And there is good reason for this. It’s because I always considered myself to be an expert of sorts, being an intelligent city girl and all. John has always relied on me for animal identification and education. I’m not sure why, but it could be because he had no reason to doubt my expertise otherwise. Until now. (more…)
This is Twiggy the HUGE twig bug. Bet you thought we meant Twiggy the model! Yep…no such luck. We found this bugger in the stairwell of our Costa Rican home.
This bug is, like most of the other creatures here, is MASSIVE. We actually mistook it for a real tree branch. Which is pretty funny, because if you think about it, how would a random arm of a real tree get into the house and why would part of a tree be in the house in the first place? D’UUUH.
I keep meaning to talk about all the cover bands and musicians we’ve seen since we’ve been in Costa Rica, but I haven’t been able to get a decent picture or video to effectively demonstrate some of the talent we’ve seen here until now.
There are so many cover bands here, and most of the ones we’ve seen here are actually pretty good. I think the biggest thing that separates a group from the potential tackiness of cover bands, is their sincere love of the music.
A lot of the musicians we’ve seen really love the music of the artists’ work they are emulating. And it really shows. A perfect example is our friend Marvin who plays the bass for a lot these bands. He’s amazing and we’ve seen some great drummers and guitarists too!
Anyway, we went to see Costa Rican rock goddess Martha Fonseca the other night and all our guys friends were completely in love with her – it was actually kinda distracting and extremely entertaining watching the guys moon over as I was trying to enjoy the music!
So here she is – a perfect example to one of the many great musicians we’ve seen here during our stay in Costa Rica
On our day trip to the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, we were so lucky to see a sloth in it’s natural habitat on our way up to the Waterfall. they don’t often put on such a good show, and people don’t see them out too often.
It’s been 7 months away from home and while we are having a blast with our travels and adventures, I thought it would be nice to put up a picture of Vancouver to let our loved ones know that we haven’t forgotten home
